Director's Message
Sara Zumwalt, Director of the Litchfield Public Library District, welcomes you.
Wow, what a ride!
It has been my honor and privilege to serve as your Library Director since 1995. The Library has always held a special place in my heart, from the time I wobbled up those steep front steps of the Carnegie building when I was a toddler, to the first day working in the brand new building in 2017!
Lots of changes have happened since I began. We started with one public computer, and now we have 14 available. The internet was thought to be "a fad" and nobody knew the extent of the impact it would have on our lives.
Our Library holds over 40,000 titles for kids and adults, including DVDs and books on CD. We offer two ebook programs: Libby and Axis360. We hold family events like Wreck the Halls: A Dinosaur Christmas and Here There Be Dragons on a regular basis. We offer weekly LEGO Club and monthly adult craft nights.
I value you - our patrons - and would love to hear any suggestions you have for our Library. Never hesitate to recommend a book or author, or to ask for a program or class. We always try to accommodate our patron requests!
Confucius says "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." This could not be more true for me! I love my job, and our Library, and I hope you do too!
